Together We Shine
At Nelson primary school, we believe it is important to promote the importance of keeping fit and active. Encouraging ourselves and the children to walk every day is one of the best things we can do for our physical and mental well-being. Walking has numerous benefits for the body, including weight management, improving heart health, reducing the risk of chronic diseases, and boosting mood and mental health.
We are excited to announce that our school has a brand new track around the field, and we would like to invite all parents and children to come in early and walk some laps. Walking is an easy and low-impact exercise that is suitable for people of all ages and fitness levels. It is a great way to start the day, and studies have shown that walking in the morning can improve focus and productivity throughout the day.
Walking on our track is also an excellent way to socialise and bond with other parents and children. You can catch up with friends, make new ones, and enjoy the fresh air and beautiful surroundings (including our new allotment) of our school. Additionally, our new board will tell you how many laps you need to walk to cover a mile or a half-mile, making it easy to track your progress and set goals.
We encourage you to make walking a part of your daily routine, and what better way to start than by coming into school early and taking some laps on our new track? So, set your alarm clock a little earlier, and join us at 8.15am for a morning walk. Let's all take a step towards a healthier, happier life!
Donations of 50p can be paid via our parent pay app. The theme is to wear something red to school. We will be having a cake sale organised by our school councillors on the Friday after comic relief day (24th March). We hope you come and buy cakes, as every penny will go to this much beloved charity.
Harvest Collection 2022
A big thankyou to our Nelson families who donated food to our collection this year. We recognise that at this present time, it is difficult for everyone to make ends meet. We asked whether you felt that the food should be available to our families or donated to the wider community via the Ladywood food bank.
The poll revealed that you would like to send it to the food bank, and because of your generosity, you will directly help a family in need.
Year 3 and 4 Dodgeball Festival
A huge well done to all of the children who participated in the dodgeball festival and earnt the first set of points for their Sports Day teams. All the teams are off to a great start. A big thank you to Ranya, Elaaf, Thierry and Salmeen, our changemakers, who helped to organise and run the event. We are looking forward to Year 2's dodgeball festival on Tuesday, let's see if they can change the standings!
