Issue 45: Valentine's Day 14.02.25

In this week's issue, we look at who is Saint Valentine and how people around the world celebrate this day. We also have our Women in Science, Maths Problem, Child Hero, our Book Review and Top 5 ... as usual.

Here's Jan's piece about how people celebrate Valentine's Day around the world:

  • In Japan, children give chocolates to their friends and in Finland it's more about friendship
  • The earliest Valentine card was sent in 1415 by Charles, Duke of Orleans. It’s preserved in the British Museum.
  • The largest Valentine's card is 17.8 m long!
  • In some parts of the world people give pets treats for valentines day.
  • In Mexico, people celebrate both love and friendship
