Our 28th Issue: 18th September 2024

This week we are looking at farming from ancient times to modern times. Sai wrote an acrostic poem about farmers and Jan shared some fascinating news about plastic-eating fungi and bacteria!

Extract from Jan's piece: " Scientists recently discovered a fungi that has the remarkable ability to break down plastic. This fungi is called Pestalotiopsis. It was first discovered in the rainforests of Ecuador in 2011.

Now recently, Japanese scientists have discovered a plastic-eating microbe called Ideonella sakaiensis, named after the city Sakai where it was found.

These fungi and microbes could help us with our big plastic pollution problem!"
