From Ilyas 4RR and Imran 4MS: We’ve asked some children (Y4/5) who celebrate Diwali how they celebrate the festival, and we wondered if there’s a special oil that they use for the diyas (lamps)- mostly vegetable oil, but there is a special oil used for the prayer which is made of 5 different oils. Here’s what the children (Novvith, Sai, Nyrah, Swetha, Arjit, and Prisha) told us: We usually eat lots of yummy food like biryani, dal and rice. We watch movies and retell the story of Rama and Sita. Our families cook, sing, and dance together (there is some karaoke too!)- it’s a time to spend with family and to have lots of fun while looking at fireworks!
