The DLP Project-Led by Miss Forrest

Impact of the project so far

This video, produced by Miss Forrest, showcases the journey of fourteen Ladywood schools taking part in the Ladywood DLP project. The project focusses on strengthening the quality of education for pupils with communication and language needs in mainstream settings.

A follow-up video revisits these same schools to reflect on the successes, the lasting changes in practice, and the continued impact the programme has had on staff, pupils, and families.

Impact of the project so far

The Ladywood DLP project provides specialist support directly to teachers, pupils, and parents. These specialists offer hands-on guidance with planning, training, and modelling effective strategies for supporting pupils with communication and language needs. They have also helped schools develop flexible, accessible resource-based facilities within mainstream settings.

This support has been especially valuable as schools have faced an increasing number of pupils with complex and additional needs, particularly following the pandemic. The project has strengthened staff confidence, improved provision for pupils, and enabled children to thrive in their mainstream classrooms. Part of the project’s funding continues to support a dedicated worker who visits schools weekly, offering ongoing expertise and tailored support where it is most needed.
